Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club, Inc.
By Pam Tobin, Rescue Chair

Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club, Inc (rescue) is located in the greater Sacramento area.  We are dedicated to rescuing abused, neglected, starved, injured and unwanted Great Pyrenees.  We rehabilitate, re-homing, love and celebrate these dogs. In our program a dog that is retrieved from a shelter, other agency or owner turn-in, is restored to health, spayed or neutered, wormed, brought current on all shots and micro-chipped.

Rescue is a job that is always thankless, difficult to do even on good days, heartbreaking each and every time you do it, and financially draining on a continuous basis.  But, the most rewarding experience you will ever have, is in the eyes of a dog that shows you every day how grateful he/she is because you saved him/her from being thrown away, starved, abused or nearly killed.

If you are interested in learning more about the Great Pyrenees, please visit “The Breed” page on our website.  It outlines the basic characteristics of the breed.  Are you looking to adopt a Pyr?  Visit our “Adoption Process” page or see what dogs are currently available for adoption. http://www.spgpc.com  Our site has all the information you need to learn about adoption, membership, club events and more!

Our dogs are ONLY placed in pre-qualified homes. You can fill out and submit your Application/Home Evaluation forms online with the click of a button! You can also download and email it to petpyrs@surewest.net, fax it to 916-290-0321 or mail it to us if you prefer (please contact us for mailing address).

Adoptive families are given a one year membership to the Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club and the Rescue Chair will be a resource to you for the life of the dog. Upon adoption, you will sign a contract with the club, agreeing to return the dog to rescue should life take an unexpected turn or it simply doesn't work out.  Our usual adoption fee is $395 and it helps to offset expenses and to help perpetuate the next rescue dog that comes into the program.

If you would like to make a donation, please visit our “Get Involved” page and choose from several options that benefit the Club and Rescue.  We are a non-profit 501C3 organization and all donations are tax deductible.

Come Visit Us!  Our kennel is a private kennel and is not a public kennel. In order to visit the dogs, PLEASE call and make an appointment.  We cannot accommodate drop ins as this is a residence!

Thank you for showing interest in helping these wonderful dogs.  Both the dogs and volunteers appreciate all the help and support.
