West Sacramento gets $20 million for levee improvements

From the West Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency and the City of West Sacramento:

The West Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency (WSAFCA) and City of West Sacramento officials approved two construction contracts today totaling more than $20 million for two levee improvement projects in the city using money from the 2007 property assessment approved by voters along with State Prop 1E proceeds also approved by voters in 2007.

The Rivers Early Implementation Project (EIP) will be awarded to Raito, Inc. for $15.1 million while the CHP Academy EIP construction contract will go to Teichert Construction for $5.1 million. Together these projects will reconstruct over 8,000 feet of levee along the Sacramento Bypass and the Sacramento River North Levee to increase public safety.

“We’re very pleased to be putting the levee assessment money to work to strengthen our levees and improve public safety,” said West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon.
