Have Section 8? See this

West Sac elderly, disabled, single moms, long-term unemployed and others who rely on a voucher from HUD to pay their rent will want to take note of a change at HUD announced July 30.

HUD (the federal office of Housing and Urban Development) will close its offices nationwide on Friday, Aug. 2 as a result of government-wide automatic spending cuts that took effect March 1, said HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan in a press release. "HUD will resume normal operation on Monday, Aug. 5," he said. " We encourage those with business in HUD offices to plan accordingly."

Hud's mission statement is as follows:

To create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality affordable homes for all. HUD is working to strengthen the housing market to bolster the economy and protect consumers; meet the need for quality affordable rental homes: utilize housing as a platform for improving quality of life; build inclusive and sustainable communities free from discrimination; and transform the way HUD does business.
