The Yolo County Department of Planning & Public Works recently welcomed Ed Short as the county’s new chief building official.  Most recently, Mr. Short worked as a consultant to the City of Stockton’s Community Development Department.

Prior to his work for the City of Stockton, Mr. Short was a principle/supervising engineer and interim chief building official for the City of Sacramento, a code compliance manager/building official for  Bureau Veritas/Berryman and Hennigar and a building official/public works director for Pacific Municipal Consultants.  Mr. Short has also held engineering positions with the County of Sacramento.

Mr. Short received his bachelors of science in civil/structural engineering from the University of California, Davis.  He is a licensed professional engineer, a credentialed building official and a certified flood manager.

“Ed Short has over 25 years of experience in all aspects of the development and construction industry including private residential, commercial, municipal utility, community development and public works projects,” said Ed Smith, interim Yolo County director of Planning & Public Works.  “Twenty of those years have been in the arena of building inspection and plan check; experience that will serve Yolo County well.”

Ed Short assumed the responsibilities of chief building official on March 10, 2014.  The salary range for this position is $94,716 to $115,128.
