Donation Gives Probationers a Chance to Reinvest in their Families

(Woodland, CA) – The Yolo County Library and Probation Department have received a generous donation of $15,000 from the King-White Family Foundation for the Families Together program which gives probationers the opportunity to reinvest in being their child’s first teacher through story times, teachings and shared interactions.

Test Prep Database Available through Yolo County Library

(Woodland, CA) – Are you looking for free resources on how to take exams like the SAT or search for colleges or technical schools?  Then visit the Testing and Education Reference Center (TERC) through the Yolo County Library!

TERC is an online database of more than 300 e-books and practice tests designed to help students in high school, college and graduate school.  The database includes information on over 4,000 accredited schools, including resources on technical schools, practice certifications and license exams, as well as more than $8 billion in available scholarships.

All are welcome to participate in the following special programs held during the month of February at Yolo County’s Esparto Regional Library, located at 17065 Yolo Avenue in Esparto:

  • February 11: Valentine’s Day Crafts, 3:00 p.m.  Create your own Valentine’s Day card and bookmark!
  • February 16: Afternoon Movie, 3:00 p.m.  All children and their families are invited to view a family-friendly or teen appropriate movie (Rated G or PG).  For movie title call (530) 787-3426.
  • February 23: Ben Ofori African Drums, 3:15 p.m.  Join us for traditional African drumming and dance.
  • February 24: Children’s Art Class with Julie, 3:30 p.m.  This hands-on class will feature no-fire clay pots.

(Woodland, CA) – The following programs for adults will be held during the month of February at Yolo County’s Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library, located at 315 E. 14th Street in Davis:

  • February 5 – 7: Friends of the Davis Public Library Book Sale.  Public hours are Friday 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Sunday has $5-a-bag deals and ‘Better Books’ are half price.  Members can shop the book sale early on Friday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.
  • February 6, 13, 20 and 27: UC Davis Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), 10:00 a.m.  Free tax assistance is available to people who earn $54,000 or less.

·         February 8: Yolo County Prostate Cancer Support Group, 7:00 p.m.  This group helps prostate cancer patients and their caregivers find resources.
