Programs at the West Sacramento library in September

(Woodland, CA) – All are welcome to participate in the following special programs held during the month of September at Yolo County’s Arthur F. Turner Community Library, located at 1212 Merkley Avenue in West Sacramento:

• September 3: Special Tot Play Time: Little Einstein, 1:00 p.m. This monthly play time is designed for toddlers to expand their imagination through science exploration.

• September 6: Monthly Computer Class: eBay, 9:00 a.m. Participants will learn the basics of setting up an account on eBay, an online auction site where millions of people sell, buy and bid on new, used or antique items from around the world. A library card and PIN are required. Register in person at the information desk or by phone at: (916) 375-6465. Space is limited.

• September 8 and 22: All Things String, 6:00 p.m. This crafting circle is for anyone who knits, crochets, embroiders or enjoys fiber art. Bring a project or start something new.

(Woodland, CA) – All are welcome to participate in the following special programs held during the month of September at Yolo County’s Esparto Regional Library, located at 17065 Yolo Avenue in Esparto:

• All September: Visit your local branch to get your free Yolo County library card during Library Card Sign-Up Month.

• September 8: Master Garden Program, 6:30 p.m. This garden information program is presented by the University of California Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners of Yolo County and sponsored by the Friends of the Esparto Regional Library.

• September 13: Mad Science of Sacramento Valley, 3:15 p.m. The whole family is welcome to experience science fun in the Spin, Pop, Boom Show.

• September 15: Afternoon Movie, 3:00 p.m. Children and families are invited to view a family friendly (rated G or PG) movie. For movie title call: (530) 787-3426.

(Woodland, CA) – The following special programs will be held during the month of August at Yolo County’s Arthur F. Turner Community Library, located at 1212 Merkley Avenue in West Sacramento:

• August 2: Sports Arts and Crafts, 4:00 p.m. Children ages 6-12 and their parents or caregivers are invited to create mosaic art, flying paper Frisbees, stuffed paper footballs and more! All participants will be entered for a chance to win a prize in the Summer Reading Program.

• August 4: Zumba, 4:00 p.m. Ditch the workout routine and come join us for a calorie-burning, dance fitness party using a mixture of low-intensity and high-intensity moves.

• August 6: Special Tot Play Time, 12:00 p.m. During this month’s play time, designed for toddlers and their parents or caregivers, participants can enjoy toddler carnival games such as fishing, matching ducks and more. Expand your child’s imagination through play.

Capture Pokémon at the Yolo County Library

(Woodland, CA) – Do you play Pokémon Go? Are you looking for PokéGyms, PokéStops or Pokémon to catch? Players of all ages are welcome to visit any of the Yolo County Library’s eight branches to find a variety of Pokémon.

Explore Yolo County’s towns and cities in which Yolo County Library branches reside while capturing Pokémon of all shapes and sizes and filling up the Pokédex. Load up on supplies by visiting the various PokéStops at the branches to collect more Poké Balls, razz berries, potions or eggs. Set a lure, seize the PokéGym or check out the library’s collection of Pokémon materials. All Yolo County Library branches are air-conditioned and have staff ready to share in the excitement and fun.

(Woodland, CA) – The following special programs will be held during the month of August at Yolo County’s Winters Community Library, located at 708 Railroad Avenue in Winters:

• August 3: Puppet Show Theater, 2:00 p.m. All are welcome to enjoy a lively puppet show performed by UC Davis’ veterinary school students. After the show, audience members can meet and greet the actors and hear testimonials of what it takes to get into the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.

• August 8: Special Story Time: Winters Police Department, 10:30 a.m. Join the library for this special story time where a police officer will read stories to children and families. It’s a great opportunity for audience members to meet local police officers.

• August 9: Dilly Dally the Clown, 1:30 p.m. Enjoy family fun with this award-winning balloon twister.

The following special programs will be held during the month of July at Yolo County’s Arthur F. Turner Community Library, located at 1212 Merkley Avenue in West Sacramento:

July 2 and 16: IT Consultant by Appointment Only, 2:00 p.m. Participants can ask questions and bring their laptops or mobile devices. Samples of Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Apple devices will be on hand. Time slots are limited so make a 15 minute appointment in English or Spanish at the information desk or by telephone at (916) 375-6465.

July 5: Sports-Themed Activity Sheets, 11:00 a.m. Children ages 6-12 and their parents or caretakers are invited to participate in sports-themed activity sheets like crosswords and word searches. Turn in your finished activity sheet to be entered to win a prize. All supplies provided by the library.
