Wes Sac's Treasure Box and Holy Cross School help you save on grocery dollars

Great news for anyone who wants to save money on their groceries.  Yolo County Children’s Alliance is teaming up with The Treasure Box and Holy Cross School in West Sacramento to bring down your food bill. Each month you can purchase a box of groceries online for $30 that would normally cost you $75-$100 in local retail stores.  

Anyone can order these boxes and save money. There is no limitation on income or the number of boxes that can be ordered at one time.

Fathers and daughters of all ages are invited to a night of Enchantment Under the Sea. This semi-formal evening comes complete with a dinner buffet, DJ, and dancing. It is guaranteed to be a night to remember. “Prom” style photos will be available for an additional fee.

Tres Agaves Roseville celebrates its Jan. 21 tequila distillary event

Each month, Tres Agaves Roseville welcomes ambassadors from a Tequila distillery to celebrate that Tequila’s unique flavor profile and culture.  On Friday, Jan. 21 from 6:00p.m. to 10:00p.m. Tres Agaves Roseville will feature Jose Cuervo Tequilas and provide guests with the opportunity to learn first-hand how to craft Tres Agaves’ signature all-natural margaritas in a margarita making class. To add a new twist, specialty flavored agave nectars and rim salts will also be available for experimentation.

Classes last about 30-45 minutes and include education on the history and culture of making Tequila as well as a hands-on demonstration where each guest will make two of their own margaritas to enjoy. Classes will begin on the hour each hour starting at 5:30, 7:00 and 8:30 p.m.

Tres Agaves Passport members are $10 and non-members are $25. Class will include two cocktails plus a sampling of Jose Cuervo’s Reserva de la Familia Extra Anejo.

CowtownEats.com, a Sacramento happy hour and cheap eats blog, announced that Burgers & Brew is the top happy hour of 2010. 

“As the economy soured and furlough hit the region, we saw more and more people trying to stretch their dining and entertainment dollars,” said Darrel Ng, founder of Cowtown Eats.

Junior League of Sacramento 6th annual crab feed

The Junior League of Sacramento is hosting the 6th Annual Crab Feed fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 5.  The event will have a denim and diamond theme.  Tickets are now available online at www.jlsac.org.  Tickets are $45 in advance and $50 at the door.  Early ticket purchases are strongly encouraged.  Reserved tables are also available.

Dinner will include Dungeness crab, pasta, salad, antipasto, bread, and dessert.  A no-host bar opens at 5:00p.m.

GoGi’s Korean BBQ celebrates opening

GoGi’s Korean BBQ is opening at the corner of 15th and L Streets in the former “Park to Go” kiosk at the Park Downtown on Tuesday, Jan. 18. 

GoGi’s offers a new twist on the traditional taco. East meets South of the Border with Korean BBQ Beef, Spicy Pork, Chicken, and Tofu tacos, made to order with a little Korean flair. Handmade-specialty burritos are also available for convenient dining for downtowners on the go.  GoGi’s creates these delicious and reasonably priced meals for the fast-paced downtown workforce. Open Monday-Friday 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., GoGi’s will also be open for late night dining on Friday and Saturday nights.

Grand opening festivities include free Korean Beef tacos Jan. 18-21.  To match the urban flavors of the new innovative menu items, GoGi’s features a new mural façade designed by a professional graffiti artist.  “Gogi” is named after a Korean style meat
