West Sacramento Library Offers Free Hearing Screenings and Phones

In partnership with the California Telephone Access Program (CTAP), the Arthur F. Turner Community Library is offering a two part workshop that provides eligible Californians specialized phones and hearing screenings for free.

As part of the Deaf and Disabled Telecommunications Program, CTAP provides individuals who have difficulty using telephones with assistive telecommunications equipment and works with local partners to spread the word.

The following related workshops will be held at the Arthur F. Turner Community Library, located at 1212 Merkley Avenue in West Sacramento:

• May 17, 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. A CTAP expert will present and demonstrate the available phones and explain this state-funded program.

• June 16, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. After a free hearing screening provided by Deborah R. Powell M.S., from University Audiologic Associates, participants will receive their free phone.

There is no obligation, cost, age or income requirement, however, participants must attend both events to receive their free phone.
