The following special programs will be held during the month of May at Yolo County’s Arthur F. Turner Community Library, located at 1212 Merkley Avenue in West Sacramento:

• May 3: Monthly Computer Class: eBay, 9:00 a.m. Participants will learn the basics of how to set up an account on this online auction site, where millions of people sell, buy and bid on new, used or antique items from around the world. A library card and PIN are required. Register in person at the information desk or by phone at: (916) 375-6465. Space is limited.

• May 7 and 21: IT Consultant by Appointments Only, 2:00 p.m. Customers can ask questions and bring their laptop or mobile device. Samples of Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Apple devices will be on hand. Make an appointment in Spanish or English at the information desk or by telephone at (916) 375-6465.

• May 7: Master Gardening: Citrus Planting, 3:00 p.m. Come learn all about citrus planting in this free workshop and get answers to your questions from the UCCE Master Gardeners-Yolo County. For more information, call: (530) 666-8757 or email: mgyolo@ucanr.edu.

• May 11: Avoiding Arguments and Power Struggles with Kids, 6:00 p.m. Parents and caregivers are invited to this free workshop with David Hafter, Program Manager for Victor Community Support Services, to learn how to avoid arguments with children.

• May 12 and 25: All Things String, 6:00 p.m. This crafting circle is for anyone who knits, crochets, embroiders or enjoys fiber art. Bring a project or start something new.

• May 14: Mini Maker Camp, 11:00 a.m. Tweens and teens are welcome to discover STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) challenges by constructing a marble run, bubble creature and hovercraft, and by creating tall towers and more.

• May 16: Cyber Seniors: MS Office, 10:00 a.m. In this introductory session, participants will receive a basic introduction to the computer. This class is designed for adults who have never used a computer. A library card and PIN are required. Register in person at the information desk or by phone at: (916) 375-6465. Space is limited.

• May 18: What’s Happening Seniors? 12:00 p.m. Are you looking to get together with interested and active seniors or make new friends? Come share stories, learn from one another and find out ‘What’s Happening’ in West Sacramento and beyond!

• May 18: Evening Book Club, 6:00 p.m. Join us for a discussion of Anne Tyler’s A Spool of Blue Thread. Contact Cindy at (916) 731-5504 for more information.

• May 21: Special Tot Play Time: Little Michelangelo, 1:00 p.m. This monthly program is designed to expand the imagination of toddlers through sculpturing with paper mache.

• May 23: Tales for Tails, 4:00 p.m. This is the LAST day for children, ages 6-12, to meet up to five special dogs who love listening to stories and build their own confidence in reading out loud before summer break starts.

• May 25: West Sacramento Friends of the Library Meeting, 5:30 p.m. This non-profit 501(c)(3) organization is dedicated to serving the West Sacramento community through supporting library programs and services and are always recruiting for new members.

• May 27: Tai Chi and Qigong: Part VII, 4:00 p.m. Learn a series of movements and breathing exercises to help with general wellness, stress relief, flexibility and more from Dr. Gigi Tze-Yue Hu, who is completing her master’s degree in Tai Chi. In Part VII, participants will be introduced to Qigong Zoo and learn various animals’ movements for flexibility, strength and fun imagination.

• May 28: Paper Mache Crafts, 1:00 p.m. Children 18 and under are invited to experience this fun hands-on craft using paper mache to create fun shapes and animals like Nemo!

• Preschool Story Time: Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m.

• Elders Celebrating Life Series: 2nd and 4th Monday at 12:30 p.m.

• Hug-a-Bye-Baby: Thursdays at 11:00 a.m.

• English Conversation Group: Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. and Fridays at 10:00 a.m.

• Spanish/English Story Time: Saturdays at 11:00 a.m.

NOTICE: On May 30, all Yolo County Library branches will be closed for Memorial Day. The Summer Reading Program returns on June 1!
