'Make A Difference Day' Yolo County

YOLO COUNTY, CA - As a part of "Make A Difference Day 2012" on October 27, News10 is partnering with local libraries and The Friends of the Library to revamp, restock, renovate, or otherwise improve libraries in your area.

Each participating county has provided a wish list of items requested to help with their specific areas of need. Whether you donate books, building materials, money or personal time, all contributions are welcomed and greatly appreciated.

The Yolo County Library will be hosting a donation and volunteer drive at noon on Saturday, October 27 at the Yolo Branch at 37750 Sacramento Street. Citizens are encouraged to support the effort in any of the following three ways:

1. Donate!
We are looking for donations in any amount to help us hire professional story tellers and other performers to help promote reading to our diverse, rural popuations

2. Children's Books!
We are requesting the donation of new (or gently used) children's and teen books so we may help children and young adults develop their home libraries. Necessitamos libros en Espanol, tambien!

3. Volunteers!
The library is rearranging our collection to make space for the new Family Place Area for local children to come and experience the library.

The Yolo Branch is a Carnegie library and has been serving the people of Yolo County for over 100 years. It is currently open two days a week, Tuesdays 1-5:30 and Thursdays 10-12, and 1-5:30. On "Make A Difference" day, customers will also be able to drop in and pick up materials.

Call the library to learn how you can help or for additional information at (530) 662-2363 or (530) 666-8086
