The ‘Clydes’ are here to make some deliveries

Some of our favorite guests are here again: 10 Budweiser Clydesdales (and two Dalmatians), staying the week at our Horse Barn. They’re not parade-bound, as is often the case when they stop here. Instead, the team of horses will pull the Budweiser wagon to make beer deliveries — real deliveries — in Folsom, Sacramento and Davis, and to the UC Davis Pavilion!

Railroad Museum welcomes Union Pacific’s newly unveiled locomotive on salute to the military tour

As part of a multi-state Salute to Military tour and in collaboration with UPVETS -- a Union Pacific employee resource group dedicated to veterans –- Union Pacific, California State Parks and the California State Railroad Museum & Foundation are proud to pay tribute to the United States armed forces by showcasing the newly unveiled UP No.1943  locomotive on Wednesday, November 29 at 10 a.m. that will include a brief ceremony and community celebration.  The locomotive will be on display outdoors on the Railroad Museum's turntable located on very west end of Museum nearest Sacramento Southern Railroad tracks in Old Sacramento State Historic Park Railroad (behind the Sacramento History Museum).

Holiday magic continues in Old Sacramento with the 9th annual “Macy’s Theatre of Lights”

An electrifying and family-friendly holiday tradition, the ever-popular “Macy’s Theatre of Lights” performances will return to dazzle the Old Sacramento historic district again this season. Taking place on K Street between Front and 2nd Streets, the performances kick off on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, following a festive and fun tree lighting ceremony that is complete with pre- and post-show entertainment. The free performances will continue for a total of 22 magical evenings ending on Christmas Eve.

Railroad Museum Foundation presents all-new “Sips & Spirits: The Train Ride” for adults

The California State Railroad Museum Foundation is proud to present an all-new Halloween-inspired event for adults – “Sips & Spirits: The Train Ride” on Friday evening, October 27, 2017, departing at 7 p.m. Ticketed guests will delight in a frightfully fun train ride along the on the Sacramento Southern Railroad while enjoying a blood-shot cocktail and being entertained by a Mad Scientist and his minions, Monster Mash dancers and more. Train ride guests will indulge in hard cider and nibble on delicious appetizers provided by Fat’s Catering all while enjoying a dark night on the railroad – it’s Halloween fun, adult-style!
