Poster Contest Promotes May is Bike Month

Poster Contest Promotes May is Bike Month

May is Bike month!  In celebration, the Woodland Safe Routes to School program is hosting a poster contest for kindergarten through 8th grade students who attend school in Woodland.

Interested students are invited to create posters using their original designs that encourage other students to have fun and be safe while riding their bikes.  A winner and runner-up in each category (K-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade and 6th-8th grade) will receive a prize, and their artwork may be used in future promotional materials in Woodland and throughout Yolo County.

The poster contest is held in collaboration with the Woodland Commit2Fit May program, and the winner and runner-up in each category will be announced at the Woodland Commit2Fit raffle event on Thursday, June 2 at 6:15 p.m., at the Woodland Community & Senior Center, located at 2001 East Street in Woodland.

Wine & Brew at the Zoo – And a Ticket Giveaway!

Wine & Brew at the Zoo – And a Ticket Giveaway!

If the idea of an adults-only evening where you can sip a glass of wine while checking out the giraffes at the Sacramento Zoo sounds like your kind of night out, then you’re in luck! The Zoo’s annual event is back, (they took a year off in 2015), and the new-and-improved version of the event sounds like it may just be a wild success.

Formerly known as the “Kings of Feasts,” the event has now been re-branded to “Wine & Brew at the Zoo.” This year, 28 local wineries and breweries will serve samples while guests are entertained by live music, a silent auction and of course the exotic zoo animals. Food will be available for purchase from local food trucks with 10% of the sales benefiting the non-profit Sacramento Zoo.
