Draft Septic System Requirements Available for Review and Comment

(Woodland, CA) – Yolo County Environmental Health invites the public and other agencies to review and comment on a draft Local Agency Management Program (LAMP) for the permitting, siting, design, monitoring and maintenance of septic systems. The plan also includes provisions for graywater systems, septic pumper trucks and non-discharging wastewater units such as composting toilets.

The intent of Yolo County’s draft LAMP is to:

  • Conform to requirements of State Water Board policy
  • Assure protection of public health and water quality
  • Provide reasonable regulation of both new and existing on-site systems
  • Optimize flexibility and options for homeowners, builders and developers

This draft LAMP has been developed with the input of local stakeholders in response to the State Water Resources Control Board’s Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems Policy.  The draft plan and related documents will be presented to the Yolo County Board of Supervisors on April 5.  The final document will be submitted for approval to the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board in May.  Once the LAMP is approved by the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board, it will be brought back to the Yolo County Board of Supervisors for adoption.

The draft LAMP and related documents can be found at:
