WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A West Sacramento police officer charged with kidnapping and raping six women while on patrol pleaded not guilty in Yolo County Superior Court Thursday morning.

Officer Sergio Alvarez, 37, was arrested Feb. 26 following allegations that he targeted women aged 20 to 47 who frequented the West Capitol Avenue area, according to Lt. Tod Sockman with the West Sacramento Police Department.

Alvarez, who was fired from the police department, remains in custody. His next scheduled court appearance is March 22.
