Yolo County Library Celebrates Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros

(Woodland, CA) – Children and their families are invited to join the Yolo County Library and celebrate Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros in April.

Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros is a nationally recognized initiative which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.  The event emphasizes the importance of literacy for all children from all backgrounds and encourages libraries and community organizations to connect children and their families to diverse books, languages and cultures. 

Children who attend the following events will receive a free book and can participate in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities, watch a special performance and listen to a story time program.  Additional vendors and organizations will also be present to celebrate with the Yolo County Library.

All are welcome to participate in this fun and educational celebration on the following days:

  • April 16 at 3:00 p.m.  Yolo Branch Library, 37750 Sacramento Street
  • April 23 at 11:00 a.m.  Esparto Regional Library, 7065 Yolo Avenue
  • April 23 at 11:00 a.m.  South Davis Montgomery Library, 1441 Danbury Street
  • April 25 at 4:30 p.m.  Knights Landing Branch Library, 42351 Third Street
  • April 27 at 6:00 p.m.  Clarksburg Branch Library, 52915 Netherlands Avenue
  • April 28 at 6:00 p.m.  Winters Community Library, 708 Railroad Avenue
  • April 30 at 10:00 a.m.  Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library, 315 E. 14th Street
  • April 30 at 2:00 p.m.  Arthur F. Turner Community Library, 1212 Merkley Avenue

“The Library looks forward to Dia every year,” said Yolo County Librarian Patty Wong.  “Encouraging children and their families to read and learn is important to the growth and health of the community.”
