Cut your West Sac car insurance bill

If you are struggling to pay for car insurance, you could qualify for a state program that has annual insurance premiums starting at $226 to $338 (based on the county in which you live) if you:

  • Have a good driving record
  • Are at least 19 years old
  • Have been continuously licensed to drive for three years
  • Own a vehicle valued at $20,000 or less
  • Meet the income eligibility requirements

Certified program agents in West Sacramento are David Reynolds, 231-9501 and Edward Lewis, 371-1642.

The California Low Cost Auto Insurance Program (CLCA) has cut its rates for the second year in a row, with the goal of reducing the number of uninsured motorists and give those eligible legal minimum liability coverage at an affordable rate.

Local La-Z-Boy Donates Furnishings to The Grace House in Elk Grove

The La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries recently donated more than $8,000 in home furnishings to The Grace House in Elk Grove.  This new shelter is a place for homeless individuals who need a place to stay.  With seven stores in Northern California, the local La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries owners Liz and Jim Reego donated furniture for the family room in order to create a comfortable and welcoming gathering place.  The donation included a leather sofa, two microfiber chairs, cocktail table, end tables, lamps, rug and artwork as well.

"Elk Grove is incredibly fortunate to have La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries in our city," said City of Elk Grove Mayor Gary Davis.

Flood risk high for West Sacramento

Flood risk high for West Sacramento

"West Sacramento will be inundated" in a 200 year flood event, said California Department of Water Resources Assistant Flood Management Division Chief Paul Marshall in a June 20 presentation to the West Sac City Council.

Marshall characterized as 'conservative' DWR's new 200 year flood inundation maps that outline risks to communities in the Central Valley. (A 200 year flood, with consequences like the flooding that decimated New Orleans, has a half percent chance of happening in any year, say flood experts like West Sac's former Flood Protection Manager Michael Bessette.) Marshall said DWR worked with the Army Corps of Engineers hydrologists to create the maps.
