The Yolo County Department of Employment & Social Services, in partnership with the City of West Sacramento, the West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce and the Yolo County Workforce Investment Board, will be holding a job fair on Wednesday, October 29, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the City of West Sacramento Galleria, located at 1110 West Capitol Avenue in West Sacramento.

More than 35 employers and apprenticeship programs will be in attendance looking to network and hire full- and part-time employees, including Aflac, All Green Recycling, Allied Baron, Beutler Heating & Air Corps, CalTrans, Carpenters Training Committee for Northern California, City of West Sacramento, Coldwell Banker, Crown Moving and Storage, DGS RESD Outreach, DNC Parks and Resorts at Yosemite, Denny’s, Exact Staff, Experience Works, Goodwill Industries of Sacramento Valley, Grid Alternatives, Gymboree, IKEA, Markstein Brewery, Nippon Shokken, Operating Engineers 3 Apprentice Program, Raley’s, Ramada Inn & Suites, River City Staffing Group, Sacramento Pride, Star Staffing, SVS Group, UC Davis, Wal-Mart, Weed Man, West Coast Sand and Gravel, Yolo County Human Resources and Yolo County Office of Education.

There will also be an opportunity for free resume review from professional employment counselors who will provide guidance on enhancing and/or creating a resume, practicing the personal “elevator pitch” and how to network with community and business leaders.  Attendees are encouraged to bring their resume and to dress for success.

Also being held this month is a job talk for those interested in truck driving or forklift operation.  Sponsored by the Yolo County Department of Employment & Social Services, Workforce Investment Board and One-Stop System, as well as the America’s Job Center, this event will be held on Tuesday, October 21 at 9:00 a.m. at the Department of Employment Services, located at 25 N. Cottonwood Street in Woodland.

Presenters include the Western Pacific Truck School, Western Truck School and employers who are hiring.  Those who are unemployed or underemployed Yolo County residents or have been laid off by an employer in Yolo County may qualify for Workforce Investment Act funding for training.  Find out more at the October 21 job talk.  Note: please bring a Department of Motor Vehicles printout for the last ten years.
