But the Governor moved away, while the African-Americans stayed and helped contribute to the state's founding, surviving prejudice and hardship by banding together to create a lasting community. Center for Sacramento History Presents Black History Month Speaker Series Event on 2/9

The Center for Sacramento History, in association with the Sacramento History Alliance, is proud to present a special Black History Month Speaker Series event – Sweet Freedom’s Plains: African Americans on the Overland Trails, 1841-1869 on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 7 p.m. at the Center for Sacramento History (551 Sequoia Pacific Blvd). Historian and CSUS Emerita Professor Shirley Ann Wilson Moore will speak about her recently published book on the westward migration story of black pioneers.  Advance tickets are $15 each and available online only at www.centerforsacramentohistory.org.  With limited seating available, tickets are expected to sell out quickly.

Aerospace Museum to present Leonardo da Vinci “Machines in Motion” international traveling exhibit

The Aerospace Museum of California is proud to present a dramatic, interactive and world-class Leonardo da Vinci “Machines in Motion” international traveling exhibit that will be on display for the first time in California starting on February 6, 2017.  Forty machine replicas will be part of the impressive exhibit that will occupy nearly 9,000-square foot of space inside the spacious Museum. In order to install the new exhibition, the Aerospace Museum will be closed to the public beginning January 28 and will re-open on February 6.* The dynamic “Machines in Motion” exhibit will remain on display at the Aerospace Museum through September 7, 2017.
