West Sac fitness challenge

West Sacramento's recreation center is hosting a fitness challenge.

If you're ready to improve your health and get fit, West Sacramento spokesman Art Schroeder says the upcoming Fitness Challenge at the city's rec center "has been developed for people of all shapes, sizes and ages."  In the city's e-newsletter, Schroeder says, "If you think you have unhealthy habits, need help motivating into an a exercise routine, or are looking for a healthy way to lose weight and keep it off, sign up for the West Sacramento Recreation Center Fitness Challenge."

He explains that the Fitness Challenge is headed and motivated by the center's personal trainers, Greg, Kami and Staci, with the assistance of the rest of the Recreation Center team.  "This 50 day challenge will help you make the lifestyle changes you need to
become a healthier you," says Schroeder.  He asks,"Have you ever watched 'The Biggest Loser'?  "The concept of this challenge is similar, but your goals will be based on points, not body fat percentage."  Schroeder says the Fitness Challenge "is for anyone that is serious about getting healthy."  

WHEN:    Begins on Monday, Jan. 10 and runs through Feb. 28

A custom climbing wall at the Rec Center is the most prominent of the center's many amenities. A 2011 day pass to the rec center for a student or senior is $4.50 and $6 for an adult. The monthly rate for an individual is $33, $22 for seniors and students, $66 for a family, and $49.50 for a couple, for West Sac residents.
